Immediate Care or a Hospital Emergency Room?


Does your medical condition require a trip to Immediate Care or a Hospital Emergency Room?

These guidelines can help you avoid unnecessary costs, long waits, and visits to multiple facilities.  Please call our Immediate Care locations if you have any questions about what type of medical care you should receive.  Basic lab and x-ray services are provided onsite at the East and West locations during Immediate Care hours.


Visit Wichita Clinic’s Immediate Care in case of:

  • Allergic reactions (mild)
  • Asthma
  • Back pain
  • Colds
  • Coughs
  • Ear infections
  • Eye irritations (scratches, pinkeye)
  • Fever
  • Flu symptoms
  • Fractures (splinting only) (Minor fractures only at the Newton location)
  • Headaches and Migraines
  • Insect or animal bites that are not severe
  • Mild abdominal pain
  • Minor burns (including sunburns)
  • Minor cuts, lacerations or abrasions
  • Rashes
  • Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs)
  • Sinus infection
  • Sprains and strains
  • Urinary problems or Urinary Tract Infection (UTI)
  • Vomiting

 

Visit a Hospital Emergency Room in case of:

  • Any kind of severe pain or injury
  • Bleeding
  • Burns
  • Chest pain
  • Dislocation
  • Foreign objects in the eye
  • Head or Spinal injuries
  • Loss of consciousness
  • Overdoses
  • Poisoning
  • Post-operative problems (call surgical service)
  • Pregnancy problems (call obstetrical service)
  • Seizures
  • Severe allergic reaction
  • Severe asthma (respiratory distress)
  • Shortness of breath
  • Stab wounds
  • Stroke or stroke-like symptoms
  • Suicide attempts or tendencies

There will be a free vein screening at Wichita Clinic Northeast on Wednesday, May 21st from 3 to 6 pm. Schedule your screening time by calling (316) 609-4440.

Wichita Clinic Diabetes Education Classes are offered in a two day format, Mondays and Thursdays each week from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

Wichita Clinic offers Shapedown classes! Classes meet once a week on Thursdays at Wichita Clinic Northeast from 6-8pm.
